Outcome

Generating a 3.5X ROAS consistently for our client is a great outcome. In this case study, we will walk you through how we achieved it.

We started working with the client in January.

ROAS

Achieving a 3.5X ROAS means that if you spend $100K on ads, you’ll generate $350K in return.

How did we do that?

Good Question.

It’s no longer just about campaign setup and targeting.

Advertising platforms have made setting up ads really easy. Now, it’s all about these three key points:

  1. Creatives
  2. Messaging
  3. Optimization tactics, remarketing strategies, and overall optimization.
  4. Most importantly, it’s about ads attribution and proper tracking and analyzing data to take proper actions.

Struggles

  • The client’s Google account was new and lacked historical data, meaning there were no custom audiences.
  • There was no optimized pixel with purchase history, which affected the results as the algorithms had no prior data to understand the client.

Action Plan

Tracking Setup

  • We started by setting up proper tracking for the website, including purchase events, add-to-cart events, etc.
  • Created custom audiences for remarketing (e.g., website visitors, previous buyers, cart abandonments, etc.).
  • Collected customer data for email marketing and other purposes.

Competition Audit

We always start by having a sneak peek at what our main competitors are doing to understand market behavior.

  • We check their websites.
  • We analyze their traffic sources.
  • We review their distribution channels.
  • We examine their active ads on Meta.
  • We evaluate their active ads on Google.
  • We assess their active ads on TikTok Shop.

This audit helps us compare our position to the market we are entering and shape our strategy to capture the maximum market share possible.

Creatives

This is the most important step we focus on—creatives significantly impact the performance of ads.

The role of ads is to drive quality traffic with intent. If we achieve a good click-through rate (CTR), the ads have done their job. After that, it’s the store’s responsibility to convert these visitors into buyers.

Sometimes, the client’s role is to provide us with the creatives if they have internal resources. If not, we share our system with the client, outlining how we will produce the creatives to get their approval

Ads Creation System

We invite our clients to their dedicated dashboard for ad creation, where  our team consistently upload new ad ideas and designs for review. Clients receive automated notifications about pending ads that require their feedback.

This streamlined process allows us to efficiently test new ad ideas on a regular basis. 

Additionally, we document the performance of each ad on Asana. This helps us build a historical database of successful ads, enabling the team to create variations of those ads to achieve even better results in the future.

Email Marketing - Klaviyo

When it comes to e-commerce, it is crucial to have proper email marketing sequences that automatically work to increase conversion rates, recover abandoned cart items, and more.

These automated sequences also function as a broadcast channel for offers, promotions, new stock updates, sales, and other announcements.

As we continue running ads, our email list grows consistently. Over time, this provides us with a significant advantage for promoting new stock, offers, and other updates effectively.

UGC & Ads

Having UGC (User-Generated Content) is an authentic strategy that has been proven to enhance ad performance. This is an ongoing effort we consistently undertake with relevant creators.

With our client, we are focusing purely on Google as it has proven to attract more intent-driven buyers compared to Meta. We are currently running a mix of ad campaigns, including Search, PMAX, and Shopping Ads.
